Driving Force
The driving force behind Focal Energy are the current owners Gerard van den Eijkel and Robert Evers. Both gentlemen decided to join forces and set up a company with the aim of supplying business and project management with a firm innovative technological edge. Although from different technological backgrounds, Gerard’s and Robert’s energy converges into a clear focal point: offering new business development on the basis of sound technological know-how and target market experience.
From September 2008 onwards, new engineers and a third partner will be added to the driving force of Focal Energy.
Gerard van den Eijkel (1970):
Gerard has an engineering degree (Msc) in Applied Physics and he holds a PhD degree in electrical engineering in the area of pattern recognition and image analysis. In addition Gerard has an MBA degree. He started his career as an assistant professor at the Technical University of Delft. Later on he moved to the Twente Telematics Institute where he has been managing research and development projects. Since 2003 he has been working as an independent consultant in the area of optical systems design and image analysis.
Gerard has a broad network in this industry, participates in various technological development initiatives and is invited by his customers to drive their ideas and needs in the area of optics and vision technology towards robust industrial applications. For these projects cooperation with technology partners is crucial to success. Besides delivering innovative solutions, Gerard also gives courses in Innovation Management to groups of R&D managers and engineers.
Robert Evers (1968):
Robert is an engineer (MSc) in Applied Physics and graduated within the Control Systems Group on Computational Fluid Dynamics. He started his career in the mobile telecommunication industry where he has been managing a variety of technology implementation projects for companies like KPN Telecom, Ericsson and LogicaCMG.
In 2003 he stepped into the area of Wind Energy products. Robert has managed wind farm construction projects (EPC-contracts and turbine supply projects). Later on he worked for an engineering company that designs wind turbine components, where he managed a large team of engineers. He has been involved in a series of due diligences for investors in wind energy and has worked with a large amount of technology suppliers in the wind energy industry.
Robert combines firm project and technology management skills with an excellent understanding of the economics of wind development and construction projects.
